MEET DEREK, DIVINE DESIGNER
CREATIVE DEPARTMENT
DESIGN SPECIALIST & WEB DEVELOPMENT
The ideal designer is someone who has exceptional creative talent, a problem-solver’s mentality and is highly versatile. Enter Derek. Derek brings with him a bevy of creative influence that is unique and stands out from a sea of look-a-likes and been-there-done-that’s. And he’s fluent in multiple languages (web languages, that is). In fact, sometimes he’ll just start talking to you in JavaScript. Since earning his BA from WSU Tri-Cities in Digital Technology and Culture, Derek’s experience as a freelance designer and front-end developer has been essential to his growth as a creative professional and he continues to grow his palette for visual communication. The sky’s the limit for this guy.
SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT DEREK:
Chicken: fried, grilled, baked or other? Grilled. On the barbecue, post-marinade. Maybe a little barbecue sauce.
What is your go-to karaoke song? Well, my girlfriend would say it’s Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” but that’s just because it’s been a recent staple (and she always signs me up for it). My all-time favorite would have to be “Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News.
What font would you use on everything, if you could? I already use Helvetica Neue on just about everything, so I’m gonna go with that.
If you were the star in an 80’s TV show, what would your character’s name be and what would the show be about? My character’s name would have to be something like Godfrey or Bartelby, and the show would be about my weekly adventures as a tough-as-nails veteran police officer who rides the beat with the help of an artificially intelligent super car, battling the forces of evil and moonlighting as a bounty hunter when work is slow.
How many licks to the center of a tootsie-pop? I’m going to go with three. Three.
Some hidden talents of mine include: I’m REALLY good at making breakfast. Like awesome.
