The first quarter of the new year means one thing—awards season. Many of us watch from our couches as the Grammys, Golden Globes and Oscars distribute fancy hardware to celebrity artists and thespians, but the real event is the one you can’t watch on TV—the 2016 Spokane AAF Annual Addy Awards.
For the uninitiated, the Addy awards can be compared to the aforementioned industry awards (Globes, Oscars, etc. ), but for advertisers. Participants compete regionally against other agencies for a variety of categories, with the chance for their work to move on to eventually compete on a national level against a slew of other regional Addy winners.
For the uninitiated, the Addy awards can be compared to the aforementioned industry awards (Globes, Oscars, etc. ), but for advertisers.
The ceremony, conducted by the American Advertising Federation of Spokane, celebrates the work of both students and professionals alike, all in a pleasurable evening of stiff drinks, cocktail dresses and bow ties.
This year’s theme, Gold at the Grand, was held Saturday, March 7, at the new Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane, WA. The ceremony was judged by a team of highly-acclaimed Ad Pros from around the country, whose markets included Austin, Denver, Chicago and Kansas City.
For the Focal Point team, the 2016 Spokane Addy awards was a smashing success. When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, we were happy to learn that we collected a total of 13 awards, including the Best-of-Division honor for photography. As usual, we were humbled and honored to receive such acclaim from an industry and a region that boasts such a bevy of creative talent. We are extremely proud of our entire team and the work they accomplished in the 2015 year.
UPDATE: We’re proud to announce that several of our works went on to win additional awards at regional semifinal competition. Members from all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta submitted work after receiving honors in their local chapters. The regional-winning work is noted below.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the work that got us there…

We couldn’t be more proud of our team, and the effort supplied from every single one of us.
Here’s to an even better 2016!
